Objectives & Functions

The Powers, duties and functions of Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Slum Rehabilitation Authority:

• To survey and review the existing status of Slum Areas in Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Slum Rehabilitation Authority.
• To Formulate schemes for Rehabilitation of Slum Areas.
• To get the Slum Rehabilitation Scheme Implemented.
• To do all such other acts and things as may be necessary for achieving the objective for rehabilitation of slums.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Slum Rehabilitation Authority:

A Planning Authority.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Slum Rehabilitation Authority has been given the status of Corporation with effect from 08.09.2020. The Authority is an Independent Autonomous Body. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Slum Rehabilitation Authority has been declared as a Planning Authority for the areas under its jurisdiction by the amendment in the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. The Chief Executive Officer, Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Slum Rehabilitation Authority has been delegated the power of a Planning Authority by the notification of the State Government Urban Development Department T.P.V. 4396/492/CR-105/96/U.D.11 dated 13.09.1996 for exercising the powers of Planning Authority under various sections of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966
